SEEKING SERENDIPITY
The third in my series of video-collages of my photography. They are a selection of my personal favourites taken during the past year. Serendipity: - The faculty or phenomenon of finding valuable or agreeable things not sought for - The occurrence and development of events by chance in a happy or beneficial way For a street and documentary photographer like myself, Serendipity is to find the proverbial "Decisive Moment", where time, light, circumstance and framing collide and coincide. "I am always fascinated to know the thoughts of an artist about his own work."
The thoughts of mine for the Child Of Pulau Ketam?
Well I really love children to begin with, so their smile always bring to joy. Since the Island of Ketam (Pulau Ketam means Island of Crabs; Located in Malaysia) is not connected to the city, it is an interesting place. They don't use cars or such, they use bicycles and motors, their walkways are on pathways, which was built and levitated up from the sea because the island gets flood easily, at night the waves covers the island, It is a beautiful sight.
I feel that even though their world and the city world are at a strong contrast, they have simple life; fishing, etc, they still have bigger smile than some most of us. They are happy, the definition of happiness varies, happiness is a choice, not a miracle (:
