Nine-Muses   :  January Member Tapestry

As a start up group, Nine-Muses strives to be more than just another group on Deviant Art (DA).  Amongst our members we have a great diversity of artistic discipline and medium including digital art, traditional art, literary work and photography. In addition, our intercontiental membership includes a wide variety of social and ethnic backgrounds.  The internet provides us with the opportunity to come together in an inclusive and rich tapestry of creativity.

Traditionally the groups of DA simply become repositories of individual works of art and never manage to expand beyond that function.  We have experimented very successfully in the group Photoseries with collaborative efforts.  I would like to extend the concept of globalized, multi-disciplinary collaboration to Nine-Muses.  Examples might include a composite work between a photographer and writer, or a combined effort between a writer, digital artist and photographer. When we can juxtapose the differences in media and culture and fuse together the commonalities, we can create a unique aesthetic blend. This is one route we may wish to explore as a group.  With our wide array of skills, interests and creative outlets, we have the potential to generate works that accentuate the talents of each artist in a unique way.

Before we can embark on this journey, we need to become better acquainted. This feature presents one selected work from each members' "most popular work" from his gallery.  Many of our members are skilled in multiple disciplines which cannot be captured in a single work.  This snapshot introduction is designed to entice us to sample and explore each others galleries.  As you browse, you may find somebody for whose art you feel an affinity.  Take this opportunity to consider the possibilities and enjoy the opportunity provided through Deviant Art and the Nine-Muses group.

Thank you for joining us on this global and creative adventure.

Literature

An Evening in Some Poet's Den (Title Poem)The writing is nothing
When everything feels wrong.
Wordless,
Awake at night.
Blind eyes wide open
In search of sleep,
Ambien
Animating darkness.
False silhouettes,
Don’t pray for me.
I’m not a child;
The memory of who you wanted me to be.
Sorry, I’m not perfect.
I’m only human,
Ready to fall
Down, down, down,
(Even buildings eventually collapse.)
Sweet insanity,
My Darling,
If you are drinking to forget,
You might just end up remembering
The woes of the world.
No big deal.
Don’t be ashamed of who you are.
Sanity is an illusion,
Tragedy is beautiful.
Soldiercigarette between his lips,
tar-induced lungs struggling to inflate –
a soldier
       (a man)
struggling to make sense
of a war
where men are only equal
when they're dead.
VulcanizedWhen I fell in love,
I didn't know it would burn,
Your heat too fiery,
Burning my core,
Like the volcanic god.
I should have walked,
Far, far from you,
But I was draw,
To the perilous cone's edge,
I fell toward the magma below.
I still fall,
Head over heels,
Bouncing off the caldera,
Unable to stop,
It is a plunge to oblivion.
You forge me with your Vulcan hands,
Moulded by your fire,
Shaped by your hammer and flame,
An alchemical change,
Golden embers are all that remain.
PoisonThere’s ice in my blood, in the blue veins,
and Pain whips its scorching-hot reigns,
yanking and tightening its cruel hold
until my whole body grows very cold…
Licking crimson fire and creeping cobalt ice –
they clasp my limp body in an iron vice
so steel-strong and diamond-hard
that the black cords leave me scarred…
The fire drags me into the deep black,
the ice shows me memories of way back.
Colors dance before my feverish eyes
and images roam with deafening cries…
Voices softly whisper and gently plead,
but I can’t hear that they and their words bleed.
They don’t realize that this mortal disease
isn’t visible, nor recognized with ease…
Painful? Certainly. Serious? Yes. Deadly? Aye.
But completely hidden from the human eye.
Outside I’m calm, composed, but fake,
the true illness lying buried but awake…
A toxic poison slowly spreading to its goal,
eating, chipping away at my blackening soul,
and my weak, fluttering
MusicaIn a silent room,
The piano sounds, bringing
Harmony to the emptiness
Of the aural vacuum—
Chords, arpeggios,
Pianissimo a forte
And back again,
Life in a hollow shell.
Fingers fly; emotions
Alien to the pianist
Burst forth as
Waves of noise
Before dying down,
The room silent
Once more.
The bench is empty.
Roasted Coffee and Dead FlowersDark hair and light eyes
Her small frame accentuates her large personality
She is my everything; she is my anything.
Separated by only inches of space as we lay, sprawled on the carpeted floor
Her beautiful mind is given a physical form as her hair forms a soft, light halo around
her head
She is my everything; she is my anything.
Days turned into weeks
And weeks, to months
Every moment spent with her, drew me closer
And now the times take her from me
She is my everything; she is my anything.
Rocks and pencil-sketched eyes
She's on my mind
At every-
And any, moment of the day
Wherever I am
Everywhere, and anywhere.
She is my everything, she is my anything.
Savage State of MindGood men Bad men
we have drawn lines on ourselves and who we are from the beginning of our civilization
we have cut ourselves into two pieces
marking our sins with white ink
us Good men Bad men
pretending to go along with this parade of comedy
only held by two pieces constantly contradicting
colliding against our different faces in circles
good men bad men
for we are simple men
created by our own pride
tricked by corruption and religion
the forces that drive us men to insanity
us Good men Bad men.
Don't try to pretend like you
are neither
for you are both and more.
Your body, covered with words and description
scratching out your mind and distinction of
Good men Bad men
smell your own breed
we will never be ideal
carved to believe
that we are purity
an innocence that never belonged to us
born into the world as
Good men Bad men
Mommy and DaddyMommy, Daddy, are you okay?
You haven't talked at all today.
Mommy, Daddy, can't you see?
You're really starting to hurt me.
All you do is scream and fight,
and I hear it all throughout the night.
Sometimes I think my eyes will run dry,
yet whenever I do, I just continue to cry.
"She doesn't care about any of this, she'll be fine by tomorrow!"
Daddy, you don't know how much your words fill me with sorrow.
"Can't you just be civilized?! Stop acting like a child, and apologize right now!"
Mommy, please don't make this worse, or I'll run outside and hide in the snow.
Mommy, Daddy, I wish you would just stop everything and be happy again.
I'm hiding under the blankets, writing these words down with a pen.
Mommy, Daddy, can't you see?
You're tearing my heart into one, two, three.
A piece for each of us, a piece of my heart,
the beating has stopped before it could start.
Two sections I wish I could install into both of you,
yet I'm afraid I have not yet found the proper glue.
"It isn't your
Make A Wish With MeI want to see your smile
Everyday we're alive
And I want to hold you
Until it's time to let you go
I want to hear your laugh
Until you start to cry
And run out of air
To even speak to me
I want your happiness
To come before my own
I've only wanted you
Before anything else in life
If I have to
I'll take a bullet for you
I'll pull that trigger on me
Before it's even aimed at you
I don't want to cause you pain
Please don't cry because of me
Let me fix everything
Before it becomes a mistake
Please take one step closer
To where I'm standing
Because it's so lonely and cold
When you're not here
I'll always love you
So please return my feelings
And tell me you'll always
Be here with me
Even if we have our differences
I'll do whatever it takes
To fix my mistakes before
We fall to pieces
I want to see your smile
Everyday we're alive
And I want to hold you
Until it's time to let you go
Nothings ever perfect
But I know if we try
We'll come close to something
So perfect and true
I want you to be th
Undressing PoetryShe clothes herself in poetry,
seals her skin within the verse.
Each line becomes another garment
that conceals her fixed form's curvature,
but peels away when read.
Last night I dissected a stanza,
clamped it tight between my teeth
and tugged it down her legs.
Her body breathes warm and sweet,
speckled red like a summer strawberry field.
I sucked the juice from her lines and
spit the punctuation like seeds.
My lips mouthed the shape of her words
as my skin grew more sticky with
every splash of imagery dripping down my chin.
I peeled apart her soft pages
with sticky, pink fingertips that left them
clinging to my skin.
A single flawless line remained
between the cloak of poetry, her and me,
so we spoke the words in unison,
revealing everything and setting her verse free.
Kiss from HerIt was absinthe on the tongue
Swirls of colors in mid-vortex
Blood coagulating within the veins
Life strolling on heroin high
Piss and vinegar shipped out the system
A beretta blowjob of explosive might
Words buried deep over treasure marked x
And treasure found in all hells depth
Heavenly chorus of demons and devils
