Eyes Of Hoplessness
There are many technical shortcomings to this image, Its slightly underexposed making it grainy and noisy, lacks a little contrast and the composition could have been better. If I had been two steps higher and her eyes were focused into the empty space in the top right hand corner, it would have been ideal.
But for me, on a personal level it is allegorical of the state of the common man today, in Pakistan. How so ? Allow me to expound on the allegory. Pakistan is counted in the seven most dangerous places in the world, It is counted in the top five most corrupt countries in the world. Corrupt and incompetent politicians, indolent bureaucracy, pseudo-intellectuals, people in power robbing the country blind as if there will be no tomorrow. While the common man is left to suffer, and devolve lower and lower.
In general there are four types of people in the common society here, but as you can see there are only two girls in the image.
The first type is those that have realized this state of "hopelessness" But have talent and capability. These have fled our shores, seeking refuge in foreign lands and instead of staying to improve and better the country, they prefer not to sacrifice for the homeland but seek the comfort of wealth and security else where. You do not see them in the picture.
The second is those that have adjusted to the squalor and despair almost immune to the constant deterioration, buried their heads in the sand, like ostriches, they say "Tomorrow will be better, Inshallah (By The Grace of Allah)" But yet do nothing.
Then there are those without capability without power, but the feeling of despair burns deep in their heart, but they can do naught, but plead with eyes of hopelessness that "Allah, will intervene, will intercede" But They too sit on the same step of indolence and incapability with those whose heads are buried in the sand.
Finally, there are those that try and struggle, to improve and steer things back on track, but they too are struggle against the the tides of corruption, but they are still so far down stream that you never see them.

BALI - The Rebirth And like tea dissolving in hot water, the sun dissolved in the sky, creating a velvet horizon, announcing the stars’ night dance with the moon, the awaited joy for the wounded souls. – Abeer Allan

SEEKING SERENDIPITY
The third in my series of video-collages of my photography. They are a selection of my personal favourites taken during the past year. Serendipity: - The faculty or phenomenon of finding valuable or agreeable things not sought for - The occurrence and development of events by chance in a happy or beneficial way For a street and documentary photographer like myself, Serendipity is to find the proverbial "Decisive Moment", where time, light, circumstance and framing collide and coincide. Every time I step out with my camera, I am "Seeking Serendipity" (Please do try and watch the video full screen as it is full HD resolution) The decisive moment is a property of vantage point and framing (and of course timing), and not about the quintessence of the external event. His point is that in the swirl of humanity and nature, all around us, there are occasional fleeting moments where moving objects align naturally in the frame. It is true, however, that when all those compositional
Accidental Tourist: Cambodia
A video montage of my travel and street photography of my visit to Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and the Angkor Archeological Complex. Situated along the banks of the Mekong River, Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia, is a captivating city that beautifully showcases the country's rich history and cultural heritage. Phnom Penh offers a unique blend of ancient temples, French colonial architecture, and bustling markets. The city is home to architectural marvels like the Royal Palace, with its ornate spires and intricate detailing, and the iconic Silver Pagoda, housing a stunning collection of Buddha statues. Phnom Penh is also known for its somber yet important historical sites, such as the Killing Fields and the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, which provide insights into Cambodia's tragic past. Beyond its historical and cultural significance, Phnom Penh buzzes with energy, offering vibrant markets like the Russian Market and the Central Market, where visitors can indulge in shopping for local

Good title. I would like to focus on the woman with the black veil over her face. I have heard that it is the custom in some countries to keep their face covered and I have often thought how does the women feel about this? It seems their opinion never matters. I mean I feel a woman's face is her beauty and should never be hidden. She was not born this way. Here eyes have a very vacant look about them. I think if I had to keep my face covered this way through not other choice I would be very unhappy. Did she cover her face when you approached her?
I have heard such terrible things about Pakistan. The life there is totally different then the life here in America. It seems to be a really sad situation there from some of the things I have read in this journal. Some of the living conditions there must be deplorable by some of the shots I have seen that you took. I think if I had to live my life this way I would be depressed all the time. As it is now life is hard and it is very difficult to survive in today's world as it is. Thank you for sharing this Inayat.
